NILE - TO ENTER STUDIO IN JUNE

Chad Bowar of About.com recently conducted an interview with Karl Sanders of the South Carolina-based technical death metal band NILE.

An excerpt from the chat follows below.

About.com: When and how did you first become interested in Middle Eastern culture, mythology and music?

Sanders: Years ago, my friend and bandmate Pete Hammoura. His family is Lebanese, so I got a healthy dose of exposure to Middle Eastern culture. I didn't know Nile was from SC... why can't this band play Volume 11 sometimes, seems like it would be a perfect fit.

The last album had some pretty cool moments. "What can be safely written" is a life ending track.

I would welcome Annihilation of the Wicked 3. I worship that record.

Ithyphallic wasn't bad by any means, but it was almost no different from AotW. i mean you can only have so much diversity in the style they play, but there are big differences between each previous album.

Psyched. All their albums seem to keep getting better for the most part imo
