Bought an XBox a few months ago. Every time I think I'm almost done with GTA IV they introduce 20 new characters. Not complaining at all. But sooner or later I'll pick this up.

Of course, people understand by now that PC players will not have dedicated servers. In addition, however, Modern Warfare 2 will not have the ability to vote-kick players from a match. When pressed about the issue, Infinity Ward has stated that they'll be taking action against hackers that make their way past VAC (the anti-cheating system). Infinity Ward has confirmed that gamers cannot opt-out of hosting matches, a concern for those players that are on ISPs that don't allow dedicated servers. One last kick to the PC gamers is the lack of a Console Mode (a mode where PC gamers are able to enter commands directly into the game). When asked if Modern Warfare 2 was simply a console port, Infinity Ward said "No, PC has custom stuff like mouse control, text chat in game, and graphics settings."

Apparently, they have absolutely no idea what was meant by the question. And the real answer is "Yes, why the hell would we develop 2 games, when we can just make one and get the same amount of money?"

But the suprises aren't limited to PC gamers. Xbox 360 gamers are being locked out of features as well.

In an attempt to block cheaters, Infinity Ward will not allow Xbox Live Party Chat in Modern Warfare 2. In fact, the option is very clear cut if you open a Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer mode while already in a chat scenario - Modern Warfare 2 will ask you to either quit your party chat, or quit the game.

The message that appears is an Xbox 360 dashboard message, rather than an in-game message. This means that gamers are likely to suffer this message in games of the future, not just Modern Warfare 2 on the Xbox 360. Obviously, PlayStation 3 players of Modern Warfare 2 won't get this message, as they don't have party chat.

It was also leaked late last week (and later confirmed by Infinity Ward) that Modern Warfare 2 will have 3rd person views in some of its multiplayer modes. Infinity Ward clarified when and how 3rd player mode will be used in Modern Warfare 2. The 3rd person mode will be available in private multiplayer matches, and all players will be forced to use the third person view if the option is on in the server. In other words, everyone will be on the same level if a third person match style is selected. There will also be special playlists that players can join which allow / require the third person mode. "

despite the PC version got seriously shafted with a game designed for consoles. i just read that this is the fastest selling game of all time (7 million copies) but only 15% of those sales were for the PC version.

having a blast playing dragon age (on PC...) and i'll be playing assassin's creed 2 next week on xbox because that's where it belongs.

PC games used to always be superior. Better controls, better hardware, and better display. In the days of high performance consoles and HD tv's, though, PCs are only superior in 1 regard now.

There are TONS of great shooters on consoles now. My girlfriend has a PS3 and xbox 360. I can't bring myself to use a fucking controller though. Even when I watch a veteran to the game playing it, the movements and camera view makes it look like I'm watching a child play his first PC game. I need my mouse.

Even though, not a FPS.. GTA 4 is a good example. I'm told there's pretty much AUTO-TARGETING when you're using the guns on the console version. There isn't any on PC. Why? It's easy as shit to aim. It's STILL easier to aim on the PC even vs a console with auto-targeting. A source of fun lately for me is to be driving down a street on GTA 4 and fire a single shot out of my car with a handgun through the windshield and into the face of an oncoming car. They're instantly dead and just drive into a wall. Eat that, console.

its so true. since the advent of online consoles there have always been rumors that the next FPS will allow PC players to connect to the same servers as console players. The only problem is that the players aiming with a mouse/keyboard would de_stroy the console players.

i'm a big fan of the campaigns in the Halo series. The firefights are the best I've seen on a console, the physics, AI, maps, and weapons are all very well done. I still feel mentally challenged when I'm running around and aiming though...but since the game is built from scratch to account for the control issues, it works. But I wouldn't suffer through one minute of playing online.

and you're right about GTA4. even with all the auto-aim, you still have to sit there taking bullets while you try to swing around the camera with the control stick, and you're able to get off a shot...you might not know where that shot goes though.

Maybe I just play too much GTA 4, but I have the xbox version and doing this with auto-aim off isn't hard at all. In fact I hate playing with auto aim, it ruins the immersion.

Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising came out earlier this month. It rapes babies in its awesomeness. It is essentially war-simulation as opposed to the arcade-y battles you see in CoD. Although I've heard ArmA 2 is way better insofar as realism, but my laptop sucks and they don't make it for consoles.

yeah but I don't want a 360, I can do way more on my PC than a 360 so it doesn't make sense for me to need another piece of hardware.

also it's lame that there's no dedicated servers meaning you could be playing against entire servers that blow, I prefer to choose where I play and there's way more sense of community when you join servers you know and can play with people you've played with before. Being able to choose servers such as 'TACTICAL ONLY' is a big plus for me because sometimes I want a serious game with rules so it's not a server with all noobs running and gunning. Also the ability to create mods/maps, ect is a huge advantage with the PC and has been around forever, so the fact that Infinity Ward just decides to take it out is kinda ridiculous!

I'm still going to play the game and give it a chance but I'll probably end up going back to World At War if they don't add the standard pc features.

I'm actually finding veteran on MW2 to be much easier than the original. In every mission where you have friendly AI you can basically use them as meat shields for the whole level and not ever get pinned down.

yup, i'm playing this on veteran now. I beat it on regular, and decided "hey, i like this game a lot, i should play on harder". than yesterday morning a beat it on harder, and for the first time EVER i want to play a game on all three difficulties. I can't help it, i fucking love this game. Doing the special missions 2 player co-op is awesome.

I started replaying it, and I was like "fuck this, this is not as fun as multiplayer."

So I guess I'll wait until there's an internet outage before I beat it on veteran. Especially since I just discovered the M16. Fuck, that gun rules. Big magazine, lightning fast reload time, incredibly accurate, and one-shot kills with stopping power.

I mastered the M16 a couple days ago:
Holo sight + sleight of hand + stopping power + ninja/scrambler = total domination.

I wish you could customize your initial loadout in Campaign levels, I'd be much more inclined to re-play it.

Hate scrambler. Ruins any element of surprise. I also can't justify using sleight of hand with the M16 because it already reloads really fast, and since you're always making controlled bursts, you don't need to reload as much, anyway.

i don't have the interwebs with my PS3, EVERYONE i talk to says the only reason they play this game is for the multiplayer online aspect.... I can't get enough of the campaign/special operations (2player co-op). Now I'm at 91.4% completed for the campaign (obviously i'm playing on veteran to get it there.) and holy fucking shit. I have to creep around every corner slow as shit, if i move too fast, and get in someone's sights, that's it. I'm dead. They kill you REALLY quick when you're in their field of vision in veteran.

SCAR-H + PP2000 (both with FMJ) + Sleight of Hand + Stopping Power + Commando is what I typically use

I've been using the ACR as of late, and I like it....just unlocked the ACOG Scope for it but haven't used it yet

Before I switched over to the M16, i was using the SCAR. That gun packs a punch.

Though I started getting carried away after I began using extended mags with scavenger... ended up using it like a light machinegun which made me a lot less accurate of a shooter. I also used the ACR with the ACOG for a while... gun's incredibly accurate.
