I got that HD video camera... the couple show clips that I've recorded people have been emailing me and really like. I've gotten plenty of comments and emails from people telling me to do more. What do you, my friends, followers, and trolls, think about it?
I would like to add that a pan shot of the club at some point would be encouraged. Not for a 'hey look at me' effect for people in the club, but so if someone wasn't there they can get an idea of what the crowd was like. That's what most live videos completely miss and why they are sometimes boring after one song

I don't know much about this sort of thing, but if you were concerned with bandwidth, etc, couldn't you just start a RTTP channel on youtube? It would still generate interest in the site.

Agreed, sometimes I like to check out the crowd dimensions in the live photos on here, just to get a feel for what the deal was at the show.

This is actually a really good idea...
I don't really care about bandwidth... I have about 1Tb a month of excess bandwidth right now. But I would be using youtube. I already am using it through one of my gmail or yahoo accounts.

as for panning the crowd:
bennyhillifier The shaking is cause the crowd was hitting the PA stack I was standing on.
Rev--love having video. Couple songs per band would be awesome.
Thinking out loud here...for the bands that you know well, it might be worth coordinating which songs to video. I say that because video of the song that the band has been playing for 4 years at every show would generate a lot less interest (and RTTP site traffic) than the new song that isn't available anywhere else yet. Knowhatimsayin?
Suggestion: Talk to club/sound guys about getting a board dump of whatever you shoot on video. You can A/B the sound after and see which works better (assuming you want to get edit-y with the whole thing).

I think it's a wonderful idea. Doing a song (maybe let the band tell you which, or just whichever one you feel like doing). I know bands would really appreciate it (we definitely would). And this is just an idea, but maybe you could offer to record the whole set for a fee. Maybe $50 and you would send them a DVD within a couple weeks? I dunno if it would be worth it for you or not, but if it would i know we would pay it.

I'm guessing that A/B also involves a times machine to do all that work?
