I bought 6 1.5TB drives.
out of those with returns, my 11th just died.

Western Digital

LOL you have no clue how many seagate/samsung/hitachi 1TB/1.5TB drives we have lost due to terrible firmware. seems like once we put one of those things in on a live mail server it shits out 2 weeks later.

western digital all the way.

this might be #12. i also lost (in this past year) a 750gb wd, a 500gb maxtor, and a 750gb seagate.

boo i just got a barracuda

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 13,2009 4:23pm
and a 1TB seagate that was 12hrs old (carinas)

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Dec 13,2009 4:35pm
i've always had trouble with maxtor and samsung hdds but never seagate or western digital.

toggletoggle post by porphyria at Dec 13,2009 4:37pm
definitely thumbs down to Seagate drives. They run hotter than a motherfuck which = eventually FAIL.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 13,2009 4:42pm
hitachis were IBM deskstars. I saw a picture where they melted the doors on a drobo.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 26,2009 3:04pm
another 1.5tb seagate drive just failed. I believe that is #13.

toggletoggle post by Alx_Casket  at Dec 26,2009 3:10pm
They used to be so good, I don't know what happened either. I have a 1.5tb from them that I bought for backing up shit... had to buy a hitachi 1tb to backup my backup drive, pff.

i bought 6 1.5tb seagates. all 6 have died and now 7 of the replacements. I'm going to call them monday morning and yell at them. $14-17 each to mail them in is ridiculous.

Glad I bought that hitachi. Just lost my drive! I won't even bother RMA'ing, not fucking worth it.

STAY AWAY FROM SEAGATE. Especially their baracushits. Worst HDD company on planet.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Nov 30,2015 1:35am
The first external hard drive I ever bought was a 250 GB Free Agent Pro. It is, knock on thread, still running my iTunes library to this day.

I think all of my 1.5TB seagates are dead.
