AWESOME!!! it's working so well on my TP2. There are some issues and it runs wicked hot (ie quickly dying battery), but I can baby steps my life to android.
ok, the camera doesn't work, BT doesn't work, you also can't get the speaker to work (so it only vibrates), but the phone works.
It runs a little how and burns through the batter quicker than winmo, but with all that on the TP2, it works so much better. I'm installing apps, syncing with gmail, exchange, etc... so killer.

OR. I'M NOT GETTING A PHONE WITH OUT A QWERTY. PLUS the EVO processor isn't all that great when you look at the specs. People are claiming all these pauses when doing the things that I want to do. I'm getting the samsung epic 4g.

A 1ghz processor isn't all that great?
sorry rev, but NEEDING a qwerty so you can text while driving makes you a bit of a jackass. in ALL other capacities, the touchscreen is fine, considering its size and the autocorrent feature being so good. I can type and text as fast on here as I can on my laptop or computer keyboard.
point being, still beats turning your touch pro onto a fake Android phone.

I was thinking today at the gym.... with all these new fancy phone on the market nowadays, there should be some kind of program where they can set you up and activate one temporarily so you can try it out before you upgrade/purchase. I bet these guys would sell a fuckton more of the higher end models that way.
Not that I studied processor design or anything, but all Hertz are not equal. that is why a 400MHZ powerpc chip kicks a 1Ghz intel chip's butt. check out this article
http://androidandme.com/2010/07/news/droid...nd-more-with-quadrant-professional/ the nexus one uses the same processor as your. the phone that I want is the top benchmark called "your device"
The Qualcomm Snapdragon was the first chipset to bring 1 GHz speeds to Android, but it has the slowest GPU of the three. * Qualcomm: 1 GHz 65nm Cortex-A8 + Adreno GPU
* Texas Instruments: 1 GHz 45nm Cortex-A8 + PowerVR SGX530
* Samsung: 1 GHz 45nm Cortex-A8 + PowerVR SGX540
ff in the video where they say it's the slowest of them all @ 6:39-ish and then at 8:08 it says that the phone I want is the best, fastest android phone.
you are completely incorrect. try doing things after SSHing into a unix box where you constantly need special characters. Something I do from my current phone all the time. Remember, I have the same keyboards as you for OSK and I get frustrated with them and just the qwerty. Plus why would I get a phone I don't want now when the phone I want is coming out with in the month? If I could live without the QWERTY, I would have bought an iphone years ago.
nope, it is a stepping stone. I'm converting things from winmo to it so that I can better utilize my android phone when I get it.

you can. all companies have a 30 day return policy for that.

True, but you'd need to sign a contract and port your # over to take advantage of that return policy. I was thinking more like the store has a live unit they give you to play with for a week.
As for special charachters, not sure I'd you DO have the same keyboard since I have fast access to MORE special charachters from the main kb than I ever did from my qwerty.
I too am planning on making the switch from WM to Android eventually, since I regard Microsoft's withholding of good WP7 marketing information as a sign of there being none at all. Don't think I'll bother with Android on my TP2 though, too much work and I can play with my friends' Droid X and Incredible in the meantime. Already in DO WANT mode for google maps gps.
the incredible edges out the droid x slightly imho.
i have my QWERTY set up to be perfect for sshing into a linux server. the OSKs are way too frustraighting.
and for the testing out phones thing, i have a friend that has 5 lines on sprint and a sales rep so they let him test out phones over night all the time. just not for rubes.
WM7 has some cool things, but they took out way too much and i dont like the zune ui. also, ive been suffering with WM5, WM5.1,WM6,WM6.5 for years. im done with this noise.
WM had a million errors. Pretty customizable but constant bugs. I mean, the fucking alarm clock wouldn't work on my Treo. How do you fuck THAT up?
Android seems pretty stable and clean, fast and intuitive, plus you can get down to the brass & tacks of the OS quickly and efficiently (tons of file browsers available for free). Seems like a better choice.
Loved the WEBOS Palm had to offer but the hardware kept acting like a faggot.
lame. i updated to the build yesterday and i cant get to the android market. then this morning my network connection isnt working. im going to have to copy off my txts and stuff. is there any way to install apps in android off line? i want to install the apptracker app and the sms exporter. unless anyone knows if sms back up to gmail is able to restore.
