That basement is gonna cave-in I swear.....don't risk your life....come to the Hand Choke Neck show at the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg, Ma where the building is less likely to come crashing down on your head, and it doesn't smell like B.O. and shit.
See what I mean?? You could be under all of this......avoid a tragedy...come see Hand Choke Neck.

umbrella should stay together, they are way too good to keep breaking up. |
is this the place ...where you take left off exit 7 and its on the right like a mile up the road or some shit like that? |
yup...take the RT108 exit and head towards durham...pass the dover high school on the right, it's about 4 minutes past that on the right #327.
and i don't know if it can technically get 'soldout'. i'll be doing the door and when no one else can fit, its sold out. i guess. or until everyone dies. |
I'm leaving to this now.
there's going to be a show at my place after this show.
unfortunately, It's sold out already since my shower only fits 2 people and succubus bought the ticket right when they came on sale Oct 5th 2002 |

i, tom kiely, shed one single tear for umbrella...the good bands always have to part |
hey thanks for taking pics rev. they look great!!
My review:
Us - Our set went kinda choppy but I had fun. I always dick around during A New Kind Of Fundamentalism (the last song) and I like it that way, so tonight was no different. I couldn't really hear the vocals and I think Alex and I were just way to tired to make ends meet with the technicality, but fuck it, we're only human. Next time I play a show 2 hrs away (with traffic) I'm not going to work the whole day.
Pray For Plague - These guys ARE SUPER SUPER NICE dudes. Really. What cool guys to have met. They played pretty well for a three piece but also used our equipment which I think hindered them. Still was fun to see them.
Solipsist - I genuinely liked these guys. In fact, I'd say they were awesome. I could listen to them all day. I don't think a lot of people were really into them there, but I think they were cool.
My Enemy Myself - If they were sober I bet they'd be on fucking point. Really cool but kinda sloppy, though they admitted it was cause of the libations. Different then I thought they'd sound.
Umbrella - whoa they were tight from what I heard...I like metal but sometimes, in fact most times, I like "directed metal"...like songs that seem to have direction or some kind of meaning...like, just as examples, As The Sun Sets, Arch Enemy, In Flames...Soilwork...you know, where the songs seem like they are about things or ideas or feelings. Sometimes I feel like songs that are jump growling and breakdowns and blasts but I guess tonight wasn't one of them. Still I commend their capability in doing so.
The_Network - We wanted to go get Spike's in Allston so we cut out early. Last time I saw them at the Aviary they were really good, and the time before that they weren't so good. So I bet tonight they were one or the other. But when they are good they are damn good and when they are not so good they are metzah metz. Nate seems pretty nice though.
In general - thanks to John for setting up the show and Pray for Plague for filling in last minute, and Aaron it was nice to see you it's been a while. In fact I saw a bunch of kids I hadn't seen in a while (like Rob Wolf).
rock. sleep time. |
sad to hear umbrella is dead, they played an excellent set. the network was awesome as always.solipsist -meshuggah cover band, couldnt really get into it.taste of silver-i love these guys i like there grind stuff a lot more than the slower stuff but these guys have a lot of soul!!! We where awful, no bassist,no equitment that was ours next time will be better. We are in the works of planning another show at THE AVIARY ..it will most likely star THE NETWORK,TASTE OF SILVER... and if anyone has a band in the grind/death/polka genre let us know and you might be able to play!

or check out our stupid grind site www.vomitronrecords.com |

show was lots of fun, but -
fuck you to the kids that thought it would be funny to empty the fire extinguisher in the kitchen. things like that seriously threaten the possibility of future shows. and besides, its just fucking stupid anyway. |
i missed the fire extinguisher, but otherwise it was a fun little show. |
I love trendy fat fucks with mad doughnuts and scene whores engaged in a little synchronized gum chewing. why do these people even bother going to shows? so they can sit around being straight- edge- for- now and discuss how much they hated all of the bands?or is it really just one big-ass fashion show? |
umbrella was amazing, i wish they put out a full length before they broke up. much better show than thier last 'last' show at club marquee with #12. |
the taste of silver: I was listening to them and was trying to figure out their style. it started off pretty hard at first. Some of it reminded me (vocally) of bob from eyes.like.autumn. Just his scream, there weren't fata cleands like bobby use to do. In the middle there was some parts that totally sounded like motion sickness out-tacks. then at the end, it got better and reminded me a tiny bit of red roses for a blue lady.
prayer for a plague: this was a surprise, mostly to the band who just showed up to see the show. They grabbed ttos's equipment and went for it. Awesome to see them again. they have a lot of songs that start slow and simple and then work out in hc-grind that this awesome. Granted their bass played wasn't there, but there were parts that were too spacious between riffs. I don't remember what the bass player would be doing there, but those holes might be filled by them.
solipsist: it's been a long time since I've seen them live. I know that "singer" have been mentioned for this band, but I don't know how it would fit in. It's very interesting and influecned but meshuggah. the awesome part is that it's almost meshuggah-on-demand as kev has a metronome that they set to how fast they want the song to be. Pretty sick cause they can speed up and slow down songs that way. Their "fast" song is pretty awesome.. watching rob's hands move to keep up with the fast pace. they also can slow it down making songs longer.
my enemy myself: speaking of needing and metronome. I guess they kept talking about playing "too fast". since I don't know their stuff, I didn't notice. They were all wicked drunk and kept apologizing. Sounded pretty good from where I was standing, but what do I know.
umbrella: definitly an awesome set to be their "last". they played all of the material that they knew. I know a lot of people will be bummed if they don't return... but I'm sure they will be back in 3 months. lambgoat will probably know before me.
the network: the first time in the basement that I've actually heard the vocals. that $$$ mic made all the difference. This band is amazing and needs to get signed by metal-blade. All the people that left for the BBQ should shoot themselves in the face. These guys are hardcore drinkers and pound tons of whiskey and rum. |
thanks so much for the good review. Some of those comparisons are very flattering, in my humble opinion.
and I won't tell you which song but one of the riffs *is* an actual Motion Sickness outtake
damn... and I only saw/heard ms once... |
yeah I told Alex about how you pegged the MS thing and he was like "Was Aaron a big Ms follower?" and I was like No He only heard us once...talk about song memory
kudos, really |
umbrella's full length will be coming shortly from japan i was told by lead singer...thank god. |
i think that bands name is pray for a plague and not prayer for a plague.. |
they told me it was "pray for a pony". |
I hear that The Taste of Silver is really The Taste of Semen, homos. |
yeah Aganihm changed their name to fAganihm, too |
solopsist = skull crushers
I want to do the vokills for them, and i think i know how to fit it in rev, just using grunts to accent riff changes and help along with the rythems. I just need to get a PA that snot shitty and ask Rob again. |
yea the_network should be on metalblade...this is some bullshit! |
we're playing with them again June 7th, I think.
soon they will learn to love us |
does anyone know umbrellas website or where i can get mp3s im me at givedisgostahome please or send an email to anemptymemory92@yahoo.com |
