that is crazy. I'm glad that wasn't aimed at us. Communication systems would be f'd. If you look at the bottom right just before the explosion, there is a flare that loops back. the earth could slide through that with 1000's of miles to spare.

Absolutely. If it HAD been aimed at us, we could potentially have a total satellite blackout. The amount of radiation from that thing is hard to even comprehend.

I am not looking forward to waking up on fire. Anyhow, we will still probably get communication issues from it.
