SIGNATURE RIFF in association with BROOKLYN VEGAN, ORDER OF THE SERPENT and CATHARSIS PR are extremely pleased to bring you the first annual MARTYRDOOM Festival. On Saturday, June 30th, at PUBLIC ASSEMBLY in Brooklyn, NYC, eleven of the most brutal bands on the planet will come together in two rooms on two stages for one soon-to-be-legendary festival. The following bands will be playing:
FATHER BEFOULED (GA/CA)
ENCOFFINATION (GA/CA)
PROSANCTUS INFERI (OH)
KOMMANDANT (IL)
ANU (NC)
EVOKEN (NJ)
SANGUIS IMPEREM (CA)
PERDITION TEMPLE (FL)
GRAVE MIASMA (UNITED KINGDOM)
CRUCIAMENTUM (UNITED KINGDOM)
DEAD CONGREGATION (GREECE)
Doors for this event will open at 7:30 PM, and the first band will begin at 8PM. This event is 21+. Advance tickets (which can be obtained at www.publicassemblynyc.com) are $20, $27 at the door. The running order will be posted as the festival nears.
I'll have some seats open in the car for sure, but I'm gonna get a hotel so if you're one of those fags who drives back the same night you'll have to get a ride home.
I'll be the first to say that anyone involved with Brooklyn Vegan or lives in Brooklyn in general is probably a giant faggot. But all the bands playing are super killer. So all of us RTTP dudes should go into NY, drink all of their whiskey, keep it real, and have a good time.

post by slar you morbid? at Mar 10,2012 1:31pm
inside saturday sounds like something serge would say hahah
"inside of a saturday i am being able to be being listening to song hotel of california"
Is everyone going back home after this is over and being lame? I need to find a hotel. Quickly searching i notice a few very expensive ones and some hostels near by. Anyone booked anything yet? Id like to be amongst friends.
I booked a suite at La Jolie hotel not very far from there. Might be taking offers for people to crash as theres lots of floor space. We'll see. I was very close to booking the CONDOR hotel because fuck that is a metal name but it charges for parking and was too far away for my liking
I have a feeling this is going till 2 am. It's 2 stages. Ross said he has a place I could stay but still looking for someone to give me a ride so I don't have to drive myself. I'll gladly supply beers and gas money.
post by BSV at Jun 3,2012 9:37pm
I'll bring my pick up if your going Kev, havnt bought a ticket yet....you and who else are going?
Josh, If you want to come up to Worcester and pick me up I'll gladly take the ride. All your beers are on me. I know Ross and I think Notshaver is going. That's what I'm trying to figure out now. Who's going and were is everyone staying. I have my ticket and that's about it.

I don't know a good chunk of these bands too well. Most into seeing Evoken and Dead Congregation. Been listening to Encoffination, Grave Miasma and Father Befouled a bunch lately in anticipation for this.
eh honestly I just don't really know/care that much about 3/4 of the bands. I'm sure it would've been fun, but it also would've been expensive. As it is I'm barely gonna be able to pay KEVORD for the Maiden ticket, and that's MUCH more important.
Im in full force tour mode, prepared to drive over night.
If you want to meet at my place , I can drive you or Kevord if it comes down to it. (if you want to drink more). I got work in the AM so I can't get too drunk.

I'd be interested in that. I was thinking of doing the pay lot so I could get out of there in less than 2 hours and drink withought hassle.
Everyone is pumped about the bads until they pussy out and decide they only like one of the bands afterall.
what a dumb thing to say. I never claimed I knew all the bands I just wanted to see goat molestor and like two others. I could care less about nowadays old school death metal bands.
eh musically Kommandant is decent but very generic. Kevord and I were just very cheesed out by their stage antics, but at the same time I will applaud them for being theatrical.
post by quintessence_nli at Jun 22,2012 12:21am
Most of the best bands ever are theatrical if you think about it.
Most of the best bands ever are theatrical if you think about it.
King Diamond, Iron Maiden , etc etc....
It's not that they were theatrical. Theatrics are cool. It's the fact that the theatric were a rip off of Marilyn Mansons Antichrist Superstar pulpit and the rest of the dudes in gas masks. It's just a tired and lame gimmick. Their music isn't that great either.
This show was sooooooooo awesome. All the bands killed. My only complaint is that Encoffination should have had guitar on both sides of the stage. Just because there is only two guys in the band doesnt mean you have to have sound on just one side of the stage. On the walk to the truck I got to see two guys get their head kicked in by an angry mob which was a good capper to the night.
I look forward to the next celebration of the Heavy Metals.

My belief that Dead Congregation is the best band in death metal has be reconfirmed. That set was incredible. How about that finishing blast beat? CHAAOOOSS
Cruciamentum were the biggest surprise for me. Never heard of them before. Prosanctus, Grave Miasma, Father Befouled, and Evoken were all fantastic. Encoffination had potential, but they needed another stack to fill out the sound.
The rest ranged from decent to boring, for me.
Great show. Will do again.
Probably the best part of my day was finding an Elf LP autographed by Ronnie James Dio in a random Brooklyn record store.
can barely move, killer show was killer. have a cruciamentum lead stuck in my head but i can't remember which track it is. bought nearly all the dead congregation merch. didn't buy the purple grave miasma shirt. evoken was unfuckwithable, so completely crushing. dead congregation killed it. encoffination's sound was not on point at all....i didn't realize they were a two-piece. my poor celestial bloodshed lp cooked in the car because i was wasted and forgot to bring it inside. i hope it's okay...

Best sets were Evoken, Cruciamentum and Dead Congregation. Father Befouled, Grave Miasma and Sanguis imperem were pretty enjoyable too. Overall, it was a good fest.
And I saw the dude say on the NWN forum that the sound was shitty and he couldn't hear himself for both bands sets.

Father Befouled was certainly better but sloppy. It just looked like they had no idea how to play together as a band. I can't imagine that they got paid alot to be that way but who knows. Their style is still way better than the majority of nowadays death SO I AIN'T SAYING THEY'RE TERRIBLE, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING. It's just hard to give alot of credit to anyone who makes a hobby out of it.
Anu was probably one of the most boring bands I've ever seen live.

Yeah I agree, Father Befouled was sloppy but good. Definitely still enjoyed it.
Yeah, Encoffination is just a side project of Father Befouled. The drummer lives in cali and the guitar vocalist lives in Arizona. Their albums and 7" are killer but I don't think it was ever considered a live project.
And I saw the dude say on the NWN forum that the sound was shitty and he couldn't hear himself for both bands sets.
Well that's a crock of shit! Sounded mint on the floor and the monitors in the back were cranked. Hard for me to pass them off as elite with such an amateur false statement like that.

Yes! Teeth Into Red is one of their best songs. Was bummed they didn't end with the chant and additional pummeling.
post by BSV at Jul 2,2012 7:55pm
Yeah yeah yeah, without a doubt! That was quite clear at the time, only question is, was the mistake a lazy one? or amatuer? both answers are unacceptable.
I lost all my friend at the end of the night, very hazy indeed. I thought Andrew got arrested and didnt see Ryan either.
Evoken was the best set of the night. Very very strange walking into the show and having the best set be the first one you see. Kind of like seeing a kickass show in reverse...sort of...
Grave Miasma and Cruciamentum KILLED IT also. I didnt think ANU was boring once the sound got fixed and the fucking bass player girl actually was able to keep up...Dead Congregation was good but I was expecting better actually. I hated how the show flew by because of no breaks inbetween bands. The night before was fun with the Black Witchery rituals raping everyone, however St Vitus bar is too small for that big of a crowd, I also didnt like having to deal with some of the pretentious NY crowd that showed up. Referring to themselves in the 3rd person while name dropping the bands they interviewed for their weblogs...ugh gay
