"Established" bassist (ex-Terminally, Your Aborted Ghost, ex-Dysentery) is looking for a not so serious band to play with or even start. The band must be along the lines of Porcupine Tree, Dead Soul Tribe, Eloy, Dream Theater, Shape of Despair, Kamelot, Anathema, My Dying Bride, Desire, Fates Warning, Queensryche, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Gordian Knot, Green Carnation, Into Eternity, Kayo Dot, Maudlin of the Well, Virgin Black, Lacrimas Profundere, Nest, Twelfth of Never, Pink Floyd, Damnation era Opeth, Queen, Yes, etc etc.
I have a decent head with an adequate cab and passable basses and I have recording experience as well as an abilty to learn at incredibly fast paces. I have a playing style similar to Steve DiGiorgio/Steve Harris/Sean Malone and have been playing for over 3 and a half years. I have been labeled a few times as "one of the top 3 metal bassists in MA" so yeah... if you're in a band thats like any of the ones i listed or you're interested in starting up a band like any of the ones listed and you're from the Boston/Central MA area, contact me ASAP

People make money being in metal bands?! Someone's gotta teach me how to make that happen. |

Spalding (from alicias house):
Well this is part of "relearning" bass. Progressive rock/metal explores all sorts of different scales and modes and time signatures and whatnot as well as intricate drum patterns to follow along with. Since im poor and cant afford one on one bass lessons at the calibur im looking for right now, jamming with other people in a structured environment is a great way to learn what want pick up. Death metal unfortunately does not satiate my bass playing needs at this moment, not to mention the seriousness that TYAG was getting to is not what i need. in my previous posts i stated that i wanted to be in a "not so serious" band and that the only way for e to be in a real serious band is if it draws in a decent amount of money. i need to get a decent cash flow in order to have the freedom i want in life. it sounds like selling out but it really isnt. i need to be able to be comfortable and as Al from Goratory will back me up on this: death metal does not allow you to be able to acrue the crucial finances needed to progress in life. being serious in the extreme metal scene over here gets you shit. it doesnt allow you to hold a steady full time job, it soaks up all of your money and as much as i love extreme metal, its not the life style i forsee myself in. my hat goes off to all that desire to tour the country playing death metal and that can be able to continuously tour for years, it sounds cool, but you can keep it.
as for this calling of mine to start/join a new band... im not pussying out on metal, i still listen to pretty much nothing but metal, and not to boast or anything, but im more metal than most people (meaning that i enjoy a more diverse and broad range of metal than most people i know and have met,so dont cry about it) i just need to be able to say that i can PLAY a broad range of styles musically. limiting yourselves to one style isnt really being a true musician, in my opinion. musicians should embrace a plethora of genres and be able to feel them as well as play them as they were meant to be felt and played. i've done the death metal/grind stuff for almost 4 years and i can say that i have a coherent grasp on it and am ready to move on and progress my playing style and ability to stuff beyond speed and endurance. so you can think thatim asshole for leaving tyag and you can think im not bein very metal and you can think that im wussing out on playing metal because for some reason, i can't hack it anymore, whatever, im doing my duty to the bass playing community and to music itself by progressing forward rather than saying "well, i think this is good enough". so yeah... rock. |
