Anything after 1990 is false, and I say that late because I'm sure some people will want to post some NYHC here, which is perfectly fine. So anyway:

This thread needs more Hatebreed and Earth Crisis.

Except not.

toggletoggle post by Lamp  at Aug 23,2012 1:04am
Most of those albums came out before I was born, actually.

Here's a song from an album that came out when I was 2. I think.

The greatest HardCore record ever made.

toggletoggle post by ben at Aug 23,2012 12:29pm
this explains why you dont dig horror metal. young hardcore guys rarely branch out beyond the tight confines of the core.

Negative Approach - Tied Down, Cro Mags - Age of Quarrel, and Slapshot - Step on it

Project X kills. Did they have anything other than that one ep?

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Aug 23,2012 1:14pm
Not that I know of. Not an NYHC historian but I think they were in the same boat as Alone in A Crowd where they were just a one off supergroup instead of a real band.

Also I'm adding this:

word. I got that ep from a bargain bin at academy records in NY a few years back and liked it but was never able to find any info on the band. I guess that's why.

toggletoggle post by Lamp  at Aug 23,2012 1:22pm
That S.O.B. record is a good fucking pick!

I feel like I'm forgetting a really important one, so I'm gonna think about it for a while...

toggletoggle post by KPANZER at Aug 23,2012 1:24pm
you are correct Mike, they were indeed a 'project'.
Along the same style-even though i hated them as people and everything they stood for, the JUDGE lp is pretty fucking amazing. RIFFS.

By and large. I'm kind of a pussy when it comes to hardcore and stick to the earliest less heavy stuff. Purely the basics. Only recently have I started listening to Cro-Mags, Negative Approach, Discharge, Siege. Do I appreciate this post.

toggletoggle post by givemeedtilimdead at Aug 23,2012 11:40pm
ok, you win, but.... how come you didn't make a wiseguy post about that Sam Black Church video huh???? that is from the 90's... (must be "false hardcore" eh?)

toggletoggle post by Spence at Aug 23,2012 11:43pm
Only 50's hardcore is real.

toggletoggle post by givemeedtilimdead at Aug 23,2012 11:45pm
yeah. 50's stuff.. like that song when they're duking it out in the parking lot in the beginning of that movie The outsiders lol.

I've read this thread more times on text mode than the regular mode, didn't know someone posted SBC nor have I even listened to them before anyway.

fucking right. Sooooo good. Solid guitars, limited but well placed mosh. Love it. Erosion is nothing short of epic. Josh Hayes is a great guitarist and all, but he shines on vocals. People shouldn't sleep on the ep.

toggletoggle post by Lamp nli at Aug 25,2012 1:21am
COC is one of my favorites too but I withheld it for if some crossover thread would pop up (and yeah I would say it's more "proto-crossover" but whatever)

toggletoggle post by Big bag of assorted nigger parts at Aug 25,2012 12:12pm
Valid point in general, but that first COC is all HC, not a hint of metal.
