i was considering buying this camera for my eurotrip in feb.....

i saw it in best buys cat. and i wanted a camera that uses compact flash media cards (because those are what i have for my digital 8-track) canon is a pretty reliable camera right???its been around for some time.

anyways id be using it for mostly out doors and acouple night shots here and there, but mainly this caught my eye because i already have a 256mb and 128 mb compact flash card, and i dont need more than 5 mega pixels....

This is the one I just bought, which was recommended to me by a photographer friend: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canons1is/
It has a 10x optical zoom, Image Stabilization and manual controls. And 3.2MP is plenty for me, since I just throw them online and don't do much else with them.

I guess it all depends on what you're going to be using the camera for.

canon digis are nice.
rusted angel's got one (a400 I think).

I was going to suggest playing at best buy.
also, buy a TON of memory sticks. they are so cheap. you can get 1GB cards now for $50. I can find you deals on those if you want.

nice rev.... i got two cards already and if i buy it online i can get a 512 mb card so that would give me a total of 896 mb. would you know how many pics thatd be roughly for normal size 5x7s....alot or a little...im guessing a lot

im gonna go to best buy this week and play with it to see if i likey

the number of photos you can get depend on your settings..and it varies from camera to camera so that would be hard to say

he was slightly exagerating with the $50 for a gig i think...he got us one each for 80 a piece i think...i haven't seen them THAT cheap...unless your card is smaller in shape than ours..

i think extra sticks are good just in case you run into issues with any of the cards..

now another thing, my 2 cents...don't use the camera on the lowest settings to get the most pics...the quality will suffer...up the quality a bit even though you will get less photos...

ha! went to Best buy today played with that camera for 20 minutes and had 2 different dudes that worked there gimme thier 2 cents, then after that i was like i dont want this and left.

but im definitely getting this camera! it does movies, it has 14 shooting modes, and it even has a built in microphone and recorder for personal voice notes!!! its three in one! now i just need an extra 400 bucks...looks like ill be workin some saturdays.
