It'll be my second time shooting NIN and QOTSA..

here's a clip that made me laugh posted in the Washington Post about the show there:

A funny thing happened at the Nine Inch Nails show Wednesday night.

Toward the end of his encore-free, 90-minute set, Trent Reznor -- the only official member of NIN -- played "Hurt," the devastating ballad that received renewed attention when Johnny Cash covered it in 2002, a single that would become Cash's last before his death. Reznor brought all the withering anguish of the song's history and lyrics ("Everyone I know goes away in the end") to the dark MCI Center stage, accompanying himself alone on a keyboard with an eerie spotlight casting him in shadow.

And as Reznor sang, this request rang out from the stillness of the audience: "Take your shirt off!"

You couldn't blame the woman. The formerly slight, pasty, scary black-haired boy -- who, you'd imagine, was never one to inspire calls to strip -- is currently sporting an intense Henry Rollins look, with a crew cut, bulging arm muscles and skin that looks as if the erstwhile goth now occasionally emerges from the basement.

~~~
anyhow, i'll be shooting tonight...anyone from here going? It'll be different to shoot them on such a huge stage...i'm a little worried about lighting being too dark though, that's what the review talked about...
i was pretty happy with my photos last time
Why do you always have to go to such shitty shows, Carina?
NIN, U2, that ugly broad from No Doubt, etc etc. I feel bad for you.
I hope you get paid well for your photos to have to sit through all that crap.
Heading home..fun night..for nin I shot 2, 3 and 4th song so I was sidestage before that and I can say I'm about the same height at trent! Heh they also burn a lot of incense too...lighting was tough..but I think I got cool shots despite strobes, darkness and smoke...
Death From Above -- I got there late, only saw about 1 minute of these guys. I liked what I saw though.
QOTSA - Fucking awful. Who likes this band? The same riff for the WHOLE SONG. The singer kept undulating like he had to pee. I really was tremendously disappointed in them and I wanted to give them a fair chance. Solos were very very very rudimentary (2-3 notes) and any one of you could have played them with a blindfold on.
NIN - FUCKING AWESOME. Completely the opposite of QOTSA. Great light shows (I want those lights and screens so bad) and they sounded magnificent. I am a huge NIN fan but I have only had the opportunity to see them twice in my life. I will almost never pay $50 for a show (I got to go this time for free since it was a favor to a friend) but even if I had paid, it would have been well worth it. They belted out a ton of songs, had great stage presence, great visual display. Twice last night Trent apologized for the GA seating and said he should have read the contract more thoroughly for that kind of thing. He also said he'd never play a place with GA seating again.
At one point I thought I saw Carina near the stage but maybe not. I was up in Loge 5, Row 20, so who knows. Sitting in a seat to see a rock show is a hard thing, and the dude in front of me was portly enough that when he sat on the back of his chair, his buttocks flopped over onto my knees (really).
All in all, I could go on about how great the show was but I'll just leave it as this band is still relevant, dynamic, and artistic as fuck.
I <3 ya nic...but pics aren't ready yet :(
tonight I promise! I didn't get home until midnight and i worked on my pics until 2am...then i fell asleep before I finished them.
Wasn't Trent hilarious? how many f bombs did he drop about the floor having seats and not being GA? I told aaron that story after he came home from his show.
i was waiting for NIN to come on and was on the left side of the stage (if you are facing it) anyhow....trent was there too and he as the same height as me
heh
i watched from the side of the stage as they played love isn't enough...even got a picture of the setlist from one of the roadies! his name was "porkchop".
i shot song 2,3 and 4 so maybe you did see me nic! When Trent smashed his guitar i was right in front of him and a piece was next to my feet, i almost picked it up to sell on ebay but then i didn't..heh
QOTSA, i think they are ok, the singer moves like he's elvis, swaying his hips, makes me laugh, he also tries to do the lip snarl thing as well....i liked the opener too, only 2 guys, a guitar and drums and they both sang.
