One of Rob Departed's friends was supposed to buy it, but I think the CIA got him.

Anywho, this is up for grabs again, I'm asking 400 (450 with hardshell case).

400$ is a VERY GOOD deal for this guitar. It's in excellent condition and was only used for like the 3 month period I was in a band. Other than that it's been in a case.

it's:
Neckthrough mahogany/maple
Quilted maple top
Transparent black finish
Gotoh high radial tuners
Active EMG pickups
Gotoh tuneomatic bridge
Earvana compensated nut for precise tuning.

It's an excellent guitar, but I upgraded to the MH1000 and quit guitar anyways so I'd like to get some money for it while I'm out of a job and still have no car.

Mark Richards, Mikey Twoballs, and Brian DC can attest to the quality and amazing feel of these guitars.

selling any basses?

toggletoggle post by niccolai   at Sep 20,2006 2:20pm
I wish you were looking for one a month ago, I had two b104s, a b105, and a B204.

I would have hooked you up, but they're all gone now. the only bass I have left is my ESP b404 but I'm being burried with it.

The MH400nt is a set neck. They dont make any MH series guitars that are neck thru and mahogany bodys anymore. The only MH's that are neck thru have maple or AGATHIS bodys.

$400 is good price, its got 81 &85's.

You're right, I forgot, it's a 'set thru' neck.

Which ESP argues is better than neckthrough because more of the body wood's tone shines through.

Thats bullshit esp. They did the whole set thru to bring down their cost of the Mh line, and basicallt keep the guitars at the same price. Thats why I still hunt out the Mh-3xx series for the neck thru.

ive kind of found that i almost enjoy set thru better than neck through sometimes. neck through will almost always put a significant amount of high end due to the increased density. set necks will help regulate the high end and with an 81 in the bridge i would only imagine that would be a benefit.

Says Blue, as he possibly thinks about perhaps eating a bagel maybe.
Or not.

definitely a nice guitar. i'd buy it if i wasn't looking for a 7 string specifically with a floyd rose, heh. a direct quote from me playing it yesterday: "This guitar makes me sound better than I am" and then i frowned. it's smoov like buttah.

well i know that for some reason people have become convinced in the past couple of years that neck thru is the pinnacle of neck joint construction (probably because of hype). but 9 times out of 10 i find that that bolt on and set neck offer just as many tone enhancements as neck through, the biggest factor into this being body woods/quality and pickups (duh).

but then again, what do i know. everyone on this board thinks emg 81s are the best humbucker out there.

Its cheaper for them to continue making neckthroughs than set-thru joints, and you would be crazy to think set thru construction yields less of the body wood's tone than a neckthrough.

As a matter of fact, the very first MH400NTs and 400s were neckthrough. I had one of them. (as seen here http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v651/Niccolai/guitars/MH400_body-back.jpg )

The setthrough can be produced faster, and you get cleaner aliphetic resin lines on the wood joints, but setting up a new production line, and cadding a new design would have been way more expensive then them just using neckthrough maple blanks that they already made(and still make on other models) and not changing anything about the neckthrough mh400nts.

I've owned at least two of every MH model above the 200 series(exception being the 301) and my 300s have no advantages over my 400 or 1000 series LTDs.

Even the 250NT with the LH300 pickups holds it's own against the 300s.

the 300s slaughter the 301 and my mh250fr with HZ4s though.

+1

Any spanish luthier will agree that set necks, boltons, and neckthroughs, when built correctly, will all sustain and sound just fine. The neckthrough has more neck to body resonance... which has nothign to do with your sound once the guitar is actually plugged in.

ok, The neckthrough/bolt on is stricktly prefference. My dinkey had waaaay more low end and less tone, my neck through has waaay more tone and less bottom end, though with the right sound the lowness is a non issue. I personally prefer Tone, clarity and Sustain, which my neckthrough v has all of the above. I have noticed a difference when recording though. But, those familiar with Shroud stuff, my best guitar sound ever was on "Rose" and that song, I used a bolt on Dinkey. So go figure! Again, it's all Taste really
