Anyone ever heard of Svalbard? Its a little archipelago north of norway. Technically its part of norway, half way between norways main land mass and the north pole. Well my fiance is from australia and it is much nicer there and for every unwed child woman have they get about 3000 for them... each child!!! and thats the part that I think needs reforming. My wife was a surgeons assistant in Brazil, and she wanted to come here to go to more medical school to be a fucking doctor here. We ALWAYS need more good doctors. For Isis's sake, we have a nurse shortage too. And they wouldn't give her a visa/green card/anything equivalent. She pays taxes, works hard, doesnt brake any laws, works for a decent wage, so you can't say she's undercutting you for jobs, but yet with all that motivation she still has to fight and go to court to stay in this country. While there are illegals getting welfare, getting licences, and so on. It pisses us off to no end. While she is trying to do it right, and has all the right motivations, every white "redneck" in our wonderfully "liberal" state, harrases her about going back to mexico almost every day. Mainly because of what some other duchebags come here and try to do. And ya know what? She is NOT a rarity. I work at Worcester State, and for every dumb suburban frosted blonde and college night redsox hat/guido/ski jump guy type that are only here because they HAVE to go to school to please their parents, or because they just have no idea what they wanna do so they become business majors (all a little harsh i know), there's an immigrant from Africa, China, India, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and so on, that are so psyched to be able to go to school and learn and work their ass off. Biotechnology, Mathematics, they're our future engineers and doctors. It seems like a generalization but from graduating from here and working here (basically living here) for over 5 years altogether, it's all become more and more apparent. I work in IT here and from examining where the data flows, I have the benefit of being able to keep an eye on what's going on. I walked past a group of 30 Chinese students this morning that I know have been here for a month and they'll stay here until they get their masters and Ph.Ds. It's like that in every school around here. Some intend on staying but most intend on returning home and using their knowledge there. While the frosty blondes are getting their trendy and useless Psychology degrees.

seriously...there are americans on the fringes, there are immigrants on the fringes. There are social programs for both that are doing more than our economy can handle but not enough to get a lot of these people out of the dregs.
