New site? Maybe some day.
why do you have to suck now? your early stuff kicks so much ass. i guess being good just wasn't your thing. |
Because image is everything. |
black metal is gay. New behemoth is awesome. |
i like the first demo stuff. anything new is painfully awful. they were terrible live too. |
not true, i like the new stuff. |
i will give them credit where it's due though, that drummer is a beast. |

omgz but they windmikll their hair like dethklok! and were masks! omgz so good! |

It's awesome if you like metal. Sventevith and Grom are the only decent Behemoth recordings. |
early 1900's blues > black metal |
rock and/or metal wouldn't exist if early 1900 blues never came about.
Blues wouldn't exist if slavery didn't exist in the 1800s, as evidence shows that early blues came about from the woes of being chained up and being treated like shit.
so essentially black people are the reason why blues and rock exists, therefore early 1900s blues = black metal. |
i dont give a shit about the origins ... i'm talking about the sound of the music and the attitudes of the people playing it |
Oh. I was just making a connection. :'( |
ya i'm just in shit ass mood today. fuck everything blah |
i dont give a shit about the origins ... i'm talking about the sound of the music and the attitudes of the people playing it |
where as i only care about the sound of the music. I could care less about their attitudes or the stupid clothes/masks they wear. Also, the drumming inferno does is 98.4% of the reason i like it, and i think his drumming is good enough to justify it. So fuck you fools. |
i like the new stuff.
the drummer is a wicked light tapper from what i'm to
understand (he's trigger abuser) |
maybe you haven't seen him play, yes he triggers, no he doesn't tap. He's a beast, he's like 6'5 and definitely slams the drums. |
Y'all should check out the drummer's other band if you haven't already.
here's my favorite. first track is a fucking ripper.
Azarath - Infernal Blasting

well that good news because i really like behemoth allot. |

they made a metalocalypse episode about Robert Johnson too |
I lost interest in this band as quickly as I gained it. |

Azarath also has members of Thunderbolt! who are mighty and also wipe the floor with Behemoth. |

yeahhh.
i like evangelon, and most of their other stuff. say what you want about nergal but he puts a lot of work into his lyrics.
it's accessible fast evil death metal. what's wrong with that.
they're solid dudes and they cover turbonegro live. |
it's accessible fast evil death metal. what's wrong with that. |
"accessibility" is a horrible word to use with "death metal". in today's "modern death metal" world, they do fit. half-assed riffs and monotonous vocals littered with quasi-intelligent lyrics and amazing drumming. they just seem like they stopped trying, just like Dimmu Borgir. they found an easy market in kids who really don't know anything about the genre they have adopted, and will buy anything they are told is cool. i mean yeah in business it makes sense, but there in lies the problem. a band like this along with Dimmu, Cradle of Filth, etc. got lazy and relied on production to compensate for boring song-writing. though that is the opinion of an old fart who thinks that modern day anything is the devil so take it with a grain of salt. |
I like the way you think, Master Yeti. The force Is strong with you. |
death metal has always been accessible. |
death metal has never nor will ever be accessible. |
Fixed. |
In the 90s death metal was usually taboo, especially in the mid 90s when politicians like BOB DOLE thought it was "too accesible" and bands like cannibal corpse were the reason why a few murders here and there happened. I believe I remember him reading lyrics outloud or something to that matter. I would easily argue that death metal is more "accesible" today given there's an idiotic unfunny cartoon about it, among others. |
I guess it all depends on what you'd mean by "accessible" |
death metal has always been accessible. |
I think deathmetal is, and has been, VERY accessible for a long time. It only became cool to be in-accessible within recent years. Although the people listening to it would never tell you that, they would say the reason they play/listen to such music is because they ARE different from everyone else. |
nah, the second wave of black metal started for no reason in particular...
i got into metal by listening to metallica. if kids today get into it by listening to bands like behemoth and nile, well i think that's fucking great.
i don't even like them enough to defend why i enjoy them, though live they are usually the most intense band at the show. that's not saying much because they usually play with job for a cowboy or whatever. |
I'm pretty sure MOST people would view accessible as somewhat repetive music, with emotions that are easy to resonate with for the listener. (when your average listener is a young male, those emotions are mostly anger-based) Also to be accessible, you have to play something the"Everyman" can understand. No crazy arrangements, or chaotic rhythms.

I'm defending accessible music. |
I hate people that listen to metal to be "different." Individualism is not acheived through forced means; people listen to what they want. |
Well, i know plenty of people that DON'T listen to music because to many people like it.... it's the same thing.. isn't it? |
I was thinking you meant accessible in the sense of how easy it is to be exposed to the music itself, not what the music gives off to the listener. Sure, most popular bands are dumbed down for your average Joe schmoe yea dude guy. |

I could not agree with you more, sir.
On a more serious note, someone needs to write a shredding metal solo with distorted Xylophones. Just a thought. |
Well, i know plenty of people that DON'T listen to music because to many people like it.... it's the same thing.. isn't it? |
yes, anyone that listens or chooses not to listen to music for any other reason than liking or respecting the music itself (for personal image or forced individualism, ie hipster) is false.
I don't understand how people can't like music. Who are these people you know? Slap them around, music is what makes the world go around. |

You DEFINITELY know a bunch of people that wouldn't listen to a band because they're popular. |

Judging a band based off of their fanbase and not their musical compositions = LOL |
Well in that case, yea. A lot of the kvlt black metal people are like that. The best thing is to keep an open mind about music, especially if you're a musician. Metal, on the other hand, I view completely differently. I've already divulged my concern over th direction folk metal is going in. |
nah, the second wave of black metal started for no reason in particular...
wait, what? lol? |
First, define this "second wave". |
first, define particular. |
First, define "is", because Clinton never did. |
death metal has always been accessible. |
by definition, yes, it is, you can go to the store to get it. but by accessibility i mean appealing to the masses. death metal in the 90's was far from accessible, those who were into it weren't into it the way they are now. it took effort to seek out the demo tapes and shows, it was rewarding to be a part of that style. not just anyone played death metal. now it seems that any br00tal kid can download "Stripped, Raped and Strangled", grow his hair and all of a sudden he is into death metal. i see where you're coming from, i'm just stuck in an archaic era that is sorely missed. it seemed that back in the day people were almost born to be into metal, it was either discovered by chance, or divine intervention. now it takes zero effort to get involved, and the old ways have been suffocated to the point of extinction. but again, dementia set in in my old age and causes me to rant incoherently. |
Agreed.
I sense a disturbance in the force. |

Sounds to me like you're talking about how popular metal has gotten. |
Extreme Metal, although still "underground," is much easier to access these days, especially with the Internet. A good analogy that I'm sure you would remember, is how popular opeth has become. I remember back 10 years ago when nobody really got into their live music that much and people would be talking during their set. Now, you're lucky to even catch a whiff of Mikaels ass. Granted opeth got a lot more popular, but metal as a whole is the same. Palladium shows, even 5 years ago were way better.
There's a growing split between popular extreme metal, and underground extreme metal. They aren't the same anymore. |
Like i said, i meant accessible in a totally different sense. So did john i think. Not the literal sense. |
It's amazing how hip black metal had become within the past couple of years. |
Almost as hip as chiptunes. Metal is false anyway. |
Agreed. It's amazing how hip chiptunes has become. Omgz like I can use reason and make nintendo music now!! |
nah, the second wave of black metal started for no reason in particular...
wait, what? lol? |
the commercialization and accessibility of death metal in the early 90's prompted bands like darkthrone to forge a new "anti death metal" sound. right?
that's what i mean when i say it has always been accessible.
you are right about mainstream metal and underground metal, there is a big difference these days. "this band is loud and fast and has double bass and stuff!!! you like them right???" |
you're totally right dude. this discussion is pointless even for the likes of RTTP. |
The only black metal band that stuck to its roots:
Lol it is pointless. We are all misunderstaning accessibility within metal. |
Crab rangoon > black metal. I stopped caring a while ago. There has always been some basement dwelling fatty or 30-nothing manchild with more patches than brain cells that nothing will ever be "bestialwarhemicultfago" enough for. Now you have high-minded post-ironic art school fags who nothing will ever be "evolved" enough for. Worship Satan and eat delicious Asian cuisine or fuck off. |
Don't talk about Aril that way. |
Agreed to an extent with ryan. I hate most black metal fans. |
Rangoons are false. Egg rolls are better. |
jumbos? 5 dollar 4 course delicious Chinese food? |
I hear you.. Almost passed out on the shitter here. I stayed up all night waiting for rev to play order from chaos on his radio show but he failed hard. |
you're totally right dude. this discussion is pointless even for the likes of RTTP. |
that's why i keep stating that i'm an old fart who is stuck in the 90's. |
and who likes the new nile album (which is excellent)
you can't hide, tall man. |
hahahahaha touché. i do like a lot of 2000's stuff. i'm totally a gay Drudkh fanboy. |
speaking of Nile, i cannot fucking wait for Saturday. if they do "4th Arra of Dagon" i think the Palladium is going to crumble to dust. |
it will crumble if we do some heavy pregaming while Forgotten Legends is playing |
god dammit. That's this week? |
i plan to do some heavy pregaming, though i hadn't thought about Forgotten Legends. good idea sir. |
We should totally have an ignorant pregame session, Yeti + Ark! Imm bring some occult reefer. |
my entire day is based around pregaming. |
Bastards. I'll be away.
Oh well, i've seen Nile a bunch of times. Have fun, chaps. |
Bummer, Jim. I had some sigils I wanted to show you. |
Maybe I'll make the effort to try to attend so I can supply rangoons. |
I'd say it's a safe bet Immolation won't be going on before Abigail Williams and whoever that other band is (I'll assume they're shit). So I think we'll be safe in our pregamings this time, Tony. If I am wrong and Immolation goes on early and I miss them, I solemnly vow to bar the doors of the Palladium and place fire therein. |
Nile. This sat.
Oh yea steve, I watched the herugrim video from that dreadful cherry st show when my amp died. First time I watched it since. It's full of lulz. You make an orge face at one point. |
god dammit. That's this week? |
ya i forgot about this too... all other plans are now immediately cancelled. |
i'd say pregame at Darkwor industries headquarters. |
i say yeti's place, he's right near the show.
we need to get everybody out for this.
and immolation, krisiun, then nile.
there are no other bands playing...you hear me? NO OTHERS. |
you're gonna need a bigger boat |
haha seriously. you guys are all welcome at my house, i just have a very small apartment. |
It's cool. I'll be levitatingly stoned. On cryptic sigilweed. |

I'll take the commuter out, jon can pick me up from it... i'll bring blueberry kush. (That's KULT NECRO blueberry kush) I can't miss out of satanic weed smoking. |
Yep you can stay and take the train back in the morn or I'll drive you, don't matter |
At first glance, I thought that said "KULT NEGRO" blueberry kush and I was all "LOL The Blacks do love the kush"
Cool that you'll make it out, Jim. I've been wanting to goodtime it with you for a while now. |
Not sure what I'm thinking. let's meet at the dw bandroom, 200 yds away... I'm retarded. That boat is big enough |
Oh snap. Hopefully I can attend. I'll give yeti or jim a call if I can. |

yup, got to blaze with ya for all of 5 minutes in Maryland, but that's it. Saturday should rule...
oh, and NILE is very accessible. |
lol. is that bb accessible? Wink wink |
Not sure what I'm thinking. let's meet at the dw bandroom, 200 yds away... I'm retarded. That boat is big enough |
oh yeah, that would be a much better place to meet up. |
Have fun. My car officially shat the bed last night and will be in the shop sat. |
